Traffic police

WHY is the entire city’s traffic police force made up of unsympathetic and greedy beings?

Will the governor of Sindh, the chief minister, secretaries of the provincial government, the mayor, and everyone who uses the roads in Karachi, take note.

The city has many, rather a plethora, of problems which are being attended to at whatever pace, however, right now I am concerned with the traffic police.

I am an octogenarian with a backbone disability, a veteran of the ’65 and ’71 wars, also holding the Kutch Clasp.

On Aug 7, I offered my Juma prayers at Bilal Masjid and left immediately so as to avoid the rush. Both sides of the road had cars double parked.

My driver had just pulled the car out on the main road when a police mobile switched on its ugly sounding fog horn — no respect or regard for those offering their prayers. There was no need for the foghorn as at that time mine was the only car on the road. They overtook my car and asked me to pull to the side and knocked at my window in a menacing manner wanting to know why my driver did not pull to the side. I told him [in my naval voice] “to behave himself”.

This episode is being reported to bring police behaviour to the notice of those concerned with the police behaviour. Just to show their arrogance.
