LAHORE: In the first case of concussion reported in Pakistan domestic season, Central Punjab’s Usman Salahuddin will not participate anymore in the ongoing first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match against Southern Punjab at Gaddafi Stadium after being hit in the neck while fielding on the first day’s play on Saturday.

Fellow batsman Mohammad Saad has been drafted in the playing XI under the concussion rule.

Salahuddin was hit on the left-side of his neck while fielding at short-leg when Southern Punjab opener Sami Aslam went for a sweep against Test off-spinner Bilal Asif in the first session of the match.

The player was immediately examined for concussion before he was taken off the field for an X-ray.

“Salahuddin had neck pain, headache, and blurred vision immediately after injury,” PCB media release said.

A team is allowed 24 hours to ask for a concussion substitute after monitoring the injured player, according to the PCB’s concussion substitute rule.
