APROPOS the article ‘How not to teach’ (Sept 3) by Nasira Habib. The writer got to the crux of the current education system and systematically addressed the causes, consequences and solutions.

Unfortunately, the previous governments could not focus on these issues owing to some people in important positions. It is high time we do something to fight this malady and work towards a permanent fix.

I request the education minister to take the first step in converting the education system from an objective to a subjective domain — focusing on concepts and shifting the paradigm to a more practical approach.
