CALCUTTA: The Eastern Pakistan Renaissance Society has prepared a pamphlet entitled ‘Eastern Pakistan, and its boundaries’ which is at present under print. One typed copy of the Pamphlet has been sent to Mr. Jinnah and another is being sent to Mr. Gandhi in a day or so. Bounded by Himalayas in the north; Ganges, Patkai, Chin and Lusai hills and forests in the east, by Bay of Bengal in the South and rivers Kusi, Ganges and Hugli in the west, East Pakistan, with these natural boundaries, becomes a geographical entity. Within these boundaries lies the whole of Assam and Bengal minus the Burdwan division, part of Murshidabad district and eastern part of Purnea district.

This area has a population of 6 to 8 crores and the Muslims are in majority. In the districts of Calcutta and 24 Parganas, minus its non-domiciled non-Muslim alien labour population numbering about 23.8 lakhs, Muslims are 51 per cent of the permanent population. In Jalpaiguri and upper Assam also, Muslims are in majority if migratory alien non-domiciled labourers are omitted. — Dawn Delhi
