Joint venture strikes oil, gas in Kohat
KARACHI: The Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDC) with its joint venture partners have found new oil and gas reserves in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The company in a filing on the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Tuesday stated that the joint venture of Kohat E. L had discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory efforts at Well Tough-01, which is located in district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) is the operator at the well with a 50 per cent stake whereas other operators of the joint venture include Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) with 33.33pc and Saif Energy Limited (SEL) with 16.67pc interest in the venture.
OGDC stated that the Togh Well No#01 was drilled and tested using the company’s in-house expertise in consultation with Kohat Joint Ventures MPCL and SEL.
The well was drilled down to the depth of 3,200 meters and tested at the rate of 12.7 million standard cubic feet per day gas, 240 barrels per day condensate through choke size 32/64 inch at well-head flowing pressure 2,478 pounds per square inch from Lumshiwal Formation.
OGDC claimed that the discovery of Togh Well No#01 was “the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by Kohat the Joint Venture”.
It was stated to have opened up a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of the OGDC, joint venture partners and the country.
