Water management

I WOULD like to raise an issue with Malik Amin Aslam, an advisor to the prime minister on climate change. It is with deep concern that I watch the helplessness of our government in utilising the water discharged by India. We have been unable to benefit from this blessing and, due to poor planning, have turned it into a bane.

Mr Aslam is now at the helm of climate change affairs and policy-making, I hope you will give due attention to this suggestion.

I suggest that whenever possible we should build artificial lakes along the affected river. This will not only store the water which goes to waste and unleashes havoc on villages. It will also serve as a sanctuary for wildlife and fish farming.

This will also refurbish our underground water resources and tourism development.
