17 booked for attacking police

OKARA: Seventeen people, including five members of a family, were booked for attacking the police at village Sara-i-Amar Singh where they went to recover a minor boy on the order of the Depalpur additional district and sessions judge.

According to the first information report, lodged by ASI Muhammad Ali of Hujra Shah Muqeeem, one Noshaba had filed a write petition before the court to get the custody of her nine-month-old son, Sharif, from her in-laws.

The police reached village Sara-i-Amar Singh and demanded handing over of the minor from the family. But Noshaba’s in-laws, including Yasin, his wife, Sheedan, sons Sadam and Aadil, daughters, Bashiran and Saima and 12 other unidentified accomplices, started beating the police with rods and clubs. They also allegedly tore off the uniform of Constable Sajid.
