Quack clinic running in guise of beauty salon sealed

GUJRAT: The local health authorities sealed a clinic of a quack that was being run with the cover of a beauty parlour as well as a private hospital running without a lawful medical practitioner.

Deputy District Health Officer Syed Ghumkhwar Hussain raided a quack’s clinic in Jassoki village near Kunjah that had displayed a signboard of a beauty parlour at its entrance as well as a flex sign inside denoting a clinic and mentioning the name of a retired doctor, who was not present.

Upon seeing the quack treating patients, the health department team inquired about the clinic’s legal status, but the quack could not respond satisfactorily.

The team sealed the clinic and sent the case to the district quality control board for further proceedings against the suspect.

The health team also raided a private hospital in Kung Channan village where a quack was examining patients and issuing prescriptions.

The team immediately sealed the illegal hospital.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Khurram Shahzad directed the health department to continue with the drive against quackery in the district.

Meanwhile, the district administration appointed at least eight medical officers against vacant posts in various government health facilities across the district.
