Camp for U-19 Asia Cup begins today

KARACHI: The national team’s training camp for the upcoming ACC U-19 Asia Cup will be held here at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre, National Stadium from Friday.

The camp is being organised to prepare the Pakistan team for the U-19 Asia Cup being hosted by Sri Lanka from Sept 5 to 14.

Pakistan are placed in Group ‘A’ along with India, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

The Rohail Nazir-led Pakistan U-19 team start their tournament campaign on Sept 5 with a match against Afghanistan. They take on arch-rivals India on Sept 7, and then the colts in green play their last group match against Kuwait on Sept 9.

The semi-finals will be played on Sept 12 followed by the final on Sept 14.

Fifteen players selected for the event:

Rohail Nazir (Islamabad, captain, wicket-keeper), Haider Ali (Rawalpindi, vice-captain), Aamir Ali (Larkana), Abu Huraira (Dera Murad Jamali), Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Akhtar Shah (Quetta), Fahad Munir, Naseem Shah, Qasim Akram (Lahore), Mohammad Aamir, Mohammad Haris (Peshawar), Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr (Fata), Mohammad Basit Ali (Multan), Mohammad Irfan Khan (Faisalabad)

Reserve players: Jahanzaib Sultan, Saim Ayub (both Karachi), Syed Raza-ul-Hasan (Hyderabad), Shiraz Khan (Rawalpindi), Zaman Khan (Azad Kashmir).
