Previous govts blamed for Balochistan’s woes

QUETTA: The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Energy Sector in Balochistan, Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, has blamed the previous governments for intensifying sense of deprivation among the people of the province as they did not pay attention to development of the province and development funds were looted and plundered by the rulers.

He was talking to a tribal delegation, headed by Malik Amanullah Khan Kakar, which called on him here on Tuesday.

Mr Rind said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Prime Minister Imran Khan were taking measures to end poverty and sense of deprivation from Balochistan.

He alleged that the previous rulers had used Balochistan’s name to seek votes, but instead of serving their voters, they indulged in loot and plunder of public funds.

However, he said, the PTI government had exposed corrupt politicians and it was taking action against corrupt leaders and officials who had exploited Balochistan.

“The previous governments are responsible for the current economic quagmire in the country because corrupt politicians looted the national treasury brazenly and shifted the looted money to their foreign bank accounts through money laundering,” Mr Rind said, adding that the PTI government was utilising all resources to revamp the economy.
