Court rejects A class request for Zardari, Faryal Talpur

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court of Islamabad on Tuesday rejected applications seeking A class for detained former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Sindh MPA Faryal Talpur.

The court, however, ruled that both the suspects detained in Adiala jail on judicial remand may avail facilities of air-conditioning, fridge, internet and personal attendant on their own expense.

Advocate Farooq H. Naek and Sardar Latif Khan Khosa requested the court for direction to the jail authorities for provision of A class to Mr Zardari and Ms Talpur.

The counsel said that former president was given A class in jail even before he was elected as president.

He said that Mr Zardari had now grown old and suffering from multiple diseases but the jail authorities were not giving proper care to the ex-president.

Khosa further requested the court to grant transitory remand to Ms Talpur as she was supposed to attend the session of the Sindh Assembly.

Judge Bashir asked them to approach the Inspector General (Prison) in this regard.

Both Mr Zardari and Ms Talpur are in jail on judicial remand in connection with fake accounts case.
