Govt asked to bring down drug prices

KARAK: The chemists and druggists’ association, Karak chapter, has rejected the recent hike in the prices of medicines and asked the government to take back the decision.

The demand was made at a meeting here on Monday chaired by the association’s president Fazal Mehmood.

The participants expressed concern over the increase in prices of medicines. They said that amid the prevailing price hike increase in prices of medicines had made the lives of poor people miserable.

The participants pointed out that though the government had increased drugs’ prices by 15 per cent, but actually it was 30 per cent, and asked the government to withdraw the decision forthwith to give some relief to the poor segments of the society.

The meeting also extended full support to the drug inspector on ensuring that quality drugs were available in the markets.

They urged the doctors to prescribe the medicines of only renowned pharmaceutical companies.

FOUR INJURED ON ROAD: Four youngsters sustained injuries when their bikes collided in Gurguri Eidal Khel area on Sunday.

Police said two motorcycles collided head-on on Karak-Shakardara Road, injuring four persons.

They were taken to a local hospital, wherefrom the doctors referred them to the district headquarters hospital, Karak, due to their serious condition.
