Widespread rain makes weather pleasant

LAHORE: The fresh monsoon system gave widespread rain in many cities in the country including Lahore on Saturday.

The Met department forecast continuation of the spell with chances of some extremely heavy falls over upper catchments of the eastern rivers in the next 24 hours.

The Met office said rains/wind-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, D.G. Khan, Peshawar, Bannu, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

Rain in Lahore lowered temperatures to a great extent, making weather pleasant. The Met department recorded 21mm of rain at the airport.

Islamabad recorded heavy rain (Zero Point 77, Saidpur 49, Bokra 32, Golra 17, Airport 12), Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 77, Chaklala 48), Sialkot (City 60), Kot Addu 33, Murree 28, Toba Tek Singh 22, Okara 20, Sahiwal 11, D.G. Khan 9, Kasur, Chakwal 8, Joharabad, Jhang 7, Hafizabad 6, Narowal, Gujranwala 5, Gujrat, Mangla, Jhelum, Kasur 2, Faisalabad, Multan 1, Malamjabba 34, Balakot 33, Peshawar 32, Saidu Sharif 23, Kakul 22, Kalam 20, Dir (Upper 16, Lower 08), Drosh 11, Cherat, Takhtbhai 6, Chitral, Parachinar 3, Mirkhani 2, Muzaffarabad (City 20, Airport 14), Rawalakot 14, Garidupatta 12, Barkhan 11, Bagrote 4, Gupis 3, and Astore 2.

The Met department forecast rains/wind-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) at scattered places in Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, Bahawalpur divisions and Gilgit Baltistan in the next 24 hours.
