Colleges told to plant maximum number of trees

KARACHI: The Sindh education ministry has asked principals of all colleges in the province to ensure that they plant maximum number of trees on their premises on Sunday (today), which is being observed as ‘Plant for Pakistan Day’, officials said on Saturday.

Every region of the education ministry’s college education department has issued a similar letter to all colleges in its purview.

The education ministry said: “As per instructions of the government of Sindh all college principals of respective regions are hereby directed for strict compliance regarding tree plantation under Sar Sabz Sindh and Green Pakistan programmes.”

The principals have been asked to make sure tree plantation on Sunday, Aug18 — Plant for Pakistan Day — is carried out.

“This should be done by planting maximum trees in your colleges and everyone concerned should actively participate in planting and protecting trees — as many trees as you can — from Aug18 onward.

“Each college shall plant trees at least equal to the number of students enrolled, teachers, officers and staff of an establishment.”
