Man held for sexually assaulting child

RAWALPINDI: A grocery shop owner was arrested on charge of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in Saddar Bairooni police station area, police said on Thursday.

The father of the rape victim complained to the police that his daughter had gone to a nearby grocery shop to buy some sweets. When she returned home, she was sobbing and told her father that she was detained by the shopkeeper and subjected her to sexual assault.

Separately, an eleven-year-old boy was gunned down while he was playing outside his house in Chak Jalal Din Naseerabad.

Father of the victim complained to the police that his elder son was playing outside in the street when a bullet fired by someone struck his son injuring him critically.

He said he was shifted to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The complainant said that he had no enmity with anybody and didn’t accuse any person.

Mohammad Bashir, 52, a grocery shop owner who was shot and injured by robbers on Eidul Azha day died in hospital on Friday.
