Three electrocuted in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Three people, a woman among them, were killed when they suffered electric shock in different incidents in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district on Friday.

In the first incident, a man was electrocuted after he climbed an electricity pole to remove fault from an 11,000 KV power line in Pir Qala area. The victim was identified as Ejaz, 35.

Eyewitnesses said the victim was asked by a lineman of Pesco Doaba subdivision to climb the pole and remove the fault from the supply line.

As soon as the victim touched the supply line, he suffered an electric shock and fell on the ground. He was critically injured.

The people said the Pesco workers shifted the injured man to the tehsil headquarters hospital and went away stealthily. The injured man succumbed to injuries later.

Mohammad Anfal, a relative of the victim, lodged a case against Pesco line superintendent Ameen, lineman Subhanullah and an unnamed driver in the Saro Kali police station. The police started investigation after registering the case.

In the other incident, a minor boy was electrocuted when he accidentally touched a live power line while removing a kite from a tree in Shara area.

He fell on the ground after suffering electric shock and died instantly.

In another incident, a woman identified as Rameem, 45, was killed when she suffered an electric shock in Meerzai area. The Battagram police station registered the case and started investigations.

Meanwhile, the body of an unidentified teenage boy was recovered from the Swat River at Munda headworks.

Police said the boy was killed three to four days ago by unidentified accused and the body was dumped in the river. They said the victim was clad in black shalwar kameez and was wearing Peshawari shoes.

The body was buried in the Fatimakhel graveyard by the tehsil municipal administration pending identification.
