Qurban Lines to be converted into residential area

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police retired Capt Arif Nawaz Khan has announced shifting all the police departments from Qurban Police Lines to convert it into completely residential area for the police employees. Only the Safe City Authority Headquarters will continue functioning there.

The decision was taken for the welfare of the police force in order to provide them and their families safer and secure environment.

The IGP also announced establishing a mini-market for the residents of the Qurban Lines and directed the police officers to share a master plan with the Central Police Office by the end of August.

All police depts to be shifted from the place

The decision was made in a meeting chaired by the IGP at the Qurban Police Lines here on Thursday. However, the IGP said, only the Safe City Authority Headquarters would continue working there while other departments like traffic police and telecommunications would be shifted from Qurban Police Lines to other places in steps.

He issued directions to update him about the report of extension to Jamia Mosque Qurban Lines within a week to start construction work as soon as possible. For the purpose, he constituted a three-member committee, comprising of DIG establishment II, the DIG Telecommunication and SSP Motor Transport. He directed the committee to prepare a feasibility report to shift the equipment and accessories in ‘Mall Khana’.

During the meeting, Mr Khan directed the Addl IG Welfare and Finance to share the development plan before Aug 31 with the CPO to start work for the early completion of the project. He said the welfare of police officials was his top priority and all the available resources would be utilised to take every possible measure in this regard.
