Dir residents seek transformer for grid station

UPPER DIR: Residents have demanded that a 66KV transformer lying unused in Wari grid station should be provided to the Chukiatan grid station to help resolve low voltage and loadshedding problems in Dir subdivision.

Sources said the Wari grid station was upgraded and provided with a new 132KV transformer, adding after upgradation an old 66KV transformer was now out of use. They said the load management problem in Chukiatan grid station could be solved if that transformer was provided to it.

It is to be mentioned here that consumers of five feeders, including two of Dir city, Lar Jam, Sheringal, and Brawal tehsils connected with Chukiatan grid station have been facing difficulties owing to unannounced loadshedding and low voltage.

Local leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf said that MNA Sahibzada Sibghatullah had already taken up the matter with Pesco chief a few days ago. They said the Pesco chief had told the MNA that under rules the transformer would first be taken to Peshawar and then it could be provided to Chukiatan.

However, the residents demanded of the Pesco chief and federal minister for water and power to provide the spare transformer of Wari grid station to Chukiatan grid station on an emergency basis so they could be spared of unannounced loadshedding and low voltage problems.
