Bill tabled in PA to increase retirement age

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has tabled an amendment bill in the provincial assembly to increase the government employees’ upper age limit by three years.

The government had announced in the provincial budget to increase the employees’ age of superannuation by three years to control province’s growing pension bill.

The government is eyeing Rs20 billion annual saving for three years on account of pension liabilities due to increase in age limit.

The bill tabled on Thursday proposes amendment in section 13 (a) of KP Civil Servants Act, 1973. Through the amendment, the government has also increased limitations on early retirement.

Earlier, the government employees were allowed to apply for early retirement after completion of 25 years of service.
