PPP not to budge from its stance on Senate head: Khursheed

SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party’s central leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said on Thursday that it was PPP’s political right to change chairman of Senate and it would not budge from it.

Talking to media persons at his residence here on Thursday, Mr Shah said that if political parties were deprived of their right by an elected government then there would not remain any difference between democracy and martial law.

He said that the National Accountability Bureau had no case against him. All the cases were registered against him during the Nawaz government, he said, adding in a lighter vein that nowadays he had his vehicle thoroughly searched before getting in and out of it.

He said that he did not fear arrest or going to jail as he had already remained in prison in “fake” cases. Supreme Court should take notice of the arrest of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and hear the case itself, he said.

He said that even after passage of one year no foreign investment had arrived in Pakistan and conversely, business people were fleeing abroad after closing down their businesses.

He asked why the government did not order inquiry into Peshawar Metro Bus and warned that value of dollar would rise to Rs180 till December.

He said that those who had become approvers to get pardoned should commit suicide out of shame. If a case was based on an approvers’ account then it should be treated like fake case, he said.
