Abbottabad board stops printing gazette books

HARIPUR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Abbottabad, would declare the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate examinations in soft form on CDs instead of printing gazette books, said acting chairperson of the board Dr Shaista Irshad while talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday.

She said that unlike previous years the board had decided not to print the gazette books this time and provide the results of intermediate examinations for year 2019 in the form of CDs to the schools.

According to Dr Shaista, the BISE had to spend over Rs2 million on printing of the gazette books every year and the printing process often carried errors, exposing both the students and board staff to difficulties for removing the typo mistakes.

To provide HSSC exam results to schools on CDs

About the merits of this exercise, she claimed that it would be free of errors and easy for the schools to find result of any candidate with a single click. She said the new policy would also bring an end to the monopoly of private stationery shop owners who used to fleece the students.

Answering a question, Dr Shaista said that proper monitoring of examination halls, accountability of staff and other similar steps for making the exams system more transparent had produced positive results.

Sharing the data of total cases of cheating during the HSSC examinations for the academic years 2018 and 2019, she said that last year there were a total of 1,235 cases registered against the candidates while this year the number of cases had risen to 1,779 that showed the detection of cases had improved.

The BISE would declare the names of top three position-holders in HSSC exams on July 25 while the complete results would be shared with schools in CD form on the following day.
