PPP denies former president holds benami properties

ISLAMABAD: The PPP on Wednesday denied the government’s allegation that former president Asif Ali Zardari holds benami properties.

Addressing a press conference, the party’s information secretary Senator Moula Bux Chandio denied that Mr Zardari held benami properties and told the government that it should approach the courts instead of holding press conferences.

Accompanied by Nazir Dhoki and retired Capt Wasif Syed, he said the opposition has the numbers and the Senate chairman will be from the opposition.

“The government has failed miserably on all fronts and is busy in a blame game against the PPP leadership just to hide its failure. The government is doing injustices to the provinces, but the magic that has imposed this inept prime minister on the Pakistani people is diminishing fast,” he said.

Senator Chandio claimed Prime Minister Imran Khan was going to stay at the Pakistani embassy during his visit to the United States because he is wanted in the US.

He said that Mr Zardari travelled abroad, and every trip and its expenses were legal.

“This government is a government of liars, which only knows to blame the opposition and use abusive language,” he said, adding: “People are not fools and will speak up when the time comes.”

He said the government has not given the people any relief, and they will rise up against it soon.

“The entire country and people from every profession will soon be on the roads on strike against this puppet government, like the traders and businessmen recently closed down their businesses protesting against government policies,” he said.

He added that all corrupt individuals are in government have filled all the important positions, and said petrol, electricity and gas prices have been increased but the government has done nothing to bring relief to the people.

He said that Imran Khan used to demand the resignation of the railway minister after any accident, but now even after more than 70 accidents his railway minister has not resigned.
