Balochistan govt to act against doctors found absent from duty

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has sought help from Quetta Special Branch to collect information about absent doctors, who were recently posted to far-off areas of the province after recruitment on a contract basis.

The chief minister’s complaint cell received hundreds of reports that doctors posted in the interior and district headquarters hospitals were not performing their duties and causing great difficulties to people.

In view of these complaints, the government decided to take help from agencies to monitor doctors’ presence in the hospitals.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani ordered all deputy commissioners of the province and the special branch as well as other agencies to prepare a report after thorough investigation about ghost and absent doctors.

Officials said that the purpose behind the decision was to take action against those doctors who did not perform their duties.

“Action will be taken against all non-performing doctors and their contract will be cancelled,” officials said, adding that in case of permanent doctors the chief minister’s inspection team was ordered to take legal action against them through departmental inquiry.
