Three sustain injuries in roof collapse

LAHORE: Three people were injured after the roof of their house collapsed in Rang Mahal on Thursday.

The house was in a dilapidated condition, a police official said, adding that Rescue 1122 rushed to the site on being alerted by a local.

Teams recovered three people from the debris, including Rashid and teenage boy Arham, and shifted them to a local hospital.

The police official said the experts from the city district government had launched an inquiry into the incident.

In another incident, appliances and furniture were gutted in a fire at an electronic shop on Nisbat Road.

Shopkeepers alerted Rescue 1122 officials who reached the site with special vehicles, and controlled the fire within an hour or so.

In the Sundar area, a man reportedly shot at and injured an elderly woman and her two grandsons over the cleanliness of the street.

A police official said Rizwan opened fire after a physical brawl with his neighbour Akram and opened fire at them. Akram, his brother Zeshan and grandmother Zaitoon Bibi (75) suffered bullet injuries and were rushed to hospital where the condition of the woman was said to be serious.

The suspect fled the scene while the police registered a case.
