Two Chinese get bail in fake marriage case

LAHORE: A sessions court on Tuesday granted post-arrest bail to two Chinese men in a case of contracting ‘fake’ marriages with Pakistani women and forcing them into prostitution after taking to China.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested the petitioners - Lutian and Luthanjain - and several other Chinese citizens living in Pakistan.

The agency alleged that the suspects contracted fake marriages with Pakistani women with the help of local facilitators and forced them into prostitution after they started living in China. The agency also accused them of using Pakistani brides for illegal trade of human organs.

However, the wives of the petitioners namely Fouzia and Sumaira submitted their affidavits in the court saying they married the Chinese citizens with their free will and had been living with their husbands peacefully.

The women maintained that their husbands did nothing illegal with them nor they found them involved in any illegally activity.

Relying upon the statements of the wives, the court granted bail to the Chinese nationals against furnishing of surety bonds of Rs200,000 each.
