Four cops booked over criminals’ escape

SHEIKHUPURA: Ferozewala police registered a case against four police personnel over dereliction of duty on Tuesday.

The four policemen had detained three under-trial accused, namely Irfan, Shamsher, and Ali Imran,

in Ferozewala courts lock-up (Bakhshi Khana) to produce them before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nadim Asif Ansari on Tuesday.

When the police team opened the lock-up door, they found that the accused had disappeared after breaking the lock. All the three suspects were involved in murder and other heinous crimes.

District Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin had issued directions to register the case against the four personnel, namely Head Constable Anwar, three constables Aqil, Haseb and Ghulam Dastagir, for dereliction of duty.

The Ferozewala police claimed to have arrested all the policemen and two employees of the lock-up.

An inquiry has been launched under Ferozwala Station House Officer Amin Butt.
