20pc of LWMC field staff found ‘absent’ from duty

LAHORE: The city district administration claims to have found around 20 per cent of the Lahore Waste Management Company’s field officials absent from duty at all points checked by its officers.

The administration has also sent a detailed report to the offices of the LWMC managing director, local government & community development department’s secretary and the chief minister for information and necessary action.

“We have got several points, where the LWMC field officials / teams were assigned cleanliness related jobs, checked by our officers (additional deputy commissioner, revenue, assistant commissioners etc) from time to time early in the morning. But 20 per cent (on average) of the staff was not present on the duty,” said Lahore DC Ms Saleha Saeed in a press release on Monday.

She said the LWMC MD has been asked to take action against the absent staff and improve the cleanliness situation in the city.

FEEDERS: As many as 105 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) tripped because of heavy rain in city on Monday.

However, the Lesco teams energised the tripped feeders gradually, according to a spokesperson.

LDA: Lahore Development Authority’s governing body in a meeting on Monday accorded approval to appoint consultants for procurement, human resource and specialised legal services.

It also approved creation of chief financial officer (CFO) slot in the LDA and hiring of a professional for the job, according to a spokesman for the authority.
