PTI govt heading towards a blind alley, says Nisar

TAXILA: Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday said the PTI government was heading towards a blind alley due to its poor policies and lack of direction.

Talking to newsmen here, he said no government in the past had disappointed people in such a short span of time as the present government had. It has failed at every front, especially economic front, he added.

He said the government failed to check the alarming issues of price hike, inflation, unemployment and rising prices of utilities.

“The only solution to all social and economic problems of the country lies in political stability.”

Mr Khan said so far Prime Minister Imran Khan had failed to fulfil a promise which he made when he was in the opposition.

“Imran Khan has completely disappointed me,” the former minister said.

He urged the PTI government to introduce changes that could alleviate problems of the people, warning that the government was heading to its downfall due to its incompetency and wrong policies.

He said no single mega project had so far been initiated by the government.

Chaudhry Nisar also came down hard on the prime minister for begging to hold talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

“Today we beg for talks while the Indians are avoiding us. In the past, Indians used to beg for talks with us as our (PML-N) government was strong,” Mr Nisar said.

The former minister also opposed the PTI government’s plan to ease visa restrictions for foreigners by introducing visa-on-arrival facility for citizens of around 50 countries and e-visa to citizens of over 100 countries, saying this would compromise “national security”.

He said a soft visa policy was not in the interest of the country.

“Unchecked inflow of foreigners under the garb of tourists would create security problems.”

Responding a question, he said he would continue his political career from this part of the region and would decide about joining any political party at an appropriate time.
