CM reaffirms commitment to eradicate polio

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicate polio from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and directed all government departments to undertake necessary steps to eliminate the crippling disease from the province.

The CM took notice of polio cases reported from different parts of the province at a meeting he chaired on Friday, according to a statement.

Mahmood Khan directed that all-out efforts should be made to ensure access of polio teams to every house and every child in the province.

He asked law enforcement agencies and other relevant government departments to extend complete support during the anti-polio campaigns.

He said efforts should be made to address queries and doubts of parents so that vaccination of every child could be made possible in every anti-polio campaign.

Polio coordinator Kamran Ahmed Afridi briefed the meeting on the ongoing case response campaign conducted in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan, North Waziristan, Shangla, Buner and Torghar districts.

The meeting was informed that 24 polio cases had been reported in the country during current year, of which, 18 had been reported from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
