PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-N activists on Tuesday took out a rally against price hike, unemployment, depreciation of Pakistani currency against US dollar, and demanded of the prime minister to control the prices of daily use commodities or step down.

Holding banners and placards, the protesters marched from Hashtnagri Chowk to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, which caused suspension of vehicular traffic for sometime on the busy roads. The PML-N workers also set on fire tyres on GT Road and raised anti-government slogans.

While leading the procession, MNA Dr Ibad and party’s provincial spokesman Ikhtiar Wali said the government had failed to provide jobs and shelter to the poor people as promised. They said rather the government had further added to the problems of the poor by increasing price of daily use commodities.

They also condemned the arrest of opposition parties’ leaders and alleged that NAB had adopted discriminatory attitude as it was reluctant to take action against Imran Khan’s sister and other PTI leaders facing corruption charges.

The PML-N leaders demanded of NAB to share with media the details about inquiry reports into Bus Rapid Transit, billion tree tsunami and other projects so that the people involved in alleged embezzlement could be arrested.

Other office-bearers, including Rashid Mehmood, Israrullah Khan, Haji Mohammad Afzal, Haji Sifatullah Khan and Reham Dil Nawaz also spoke on the occasion.
