Police officer convicted for corruption

BAHAWALPUR: Anti-Corruption Judge Ibrahim Asghar on Tuesday awarded a police officer six years imprisonment along with Rs100,000 fine.

The judge announced the verdict in a nine years old case against Sub-Inspector Abdul Razzaq Waseem.

The corruption case was registered in 2009 with the Anti-Corruption Police Station on the complaint of Azra Sheikh.

After the sentence, the convict was sent to New Central Jail, Bahawalpur.

BURNT: Abbasnagar police found the charred body of an unidentified man in the Lal Sohanra National Park, about 35km from here.

On a tip-off, the police reached the park and took the body into custody. It was sent Bahawal Victoria Hospital for postmortem.

A murder case has been registered by the police.
