Commanders review security environment

ISLAMABAD: A formation commanders’ meeting reviewed the country’s internal and external security environment during its two-day proceedings.

“Two-day long annual Formation Commanders’ Conference presided by General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), [was] held at GHQ. All General officers of Pakistan Army attended,” the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Wednesday.

It said the commanders’ forum reviewed geo-strategic and national security environment.

“Internal security landscape of the country, challenges being confronted and responses were discussed in detail,” it added.

Gen Bajwa, while addressing the conference, appreciated the armed forces’ response during the February standoff with India.

He said the Pakistan Army remains fully capable and ready to respond to any threat to the country’s defence.

The COAS also appreciated the ongoing Raddul Fasaad operation.

He said the operation was important to carry forward the gains made so far towards enduring peace and stability.

At a press briefing in May, military spokesman Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had shared that under Raddul Fasaad, 47 major operations and 100,000 intelligence-based operations had been undertaken, which resulted in the recovery of over 64,000 weapons and 5.1 million units of ammunition.

The commanders’ forum pledged to continue its efforts to serve the country.
