Govt striving to provide all amenities to masses

SHEIKHUPURA July 20: Governor Khalid Maqbool has said the government is striving to provide all the amenities of life to the people and asked them to pay their dues regularly so that the development process may continue. He was addressing the public and officials during an open kutchery at the District Council hall here on Wednesday. Later, he visited various government departments along with Lesco chief Akram Arain, federal parliamentary secretary Saeed Virk, Punjab Livestock Committee chairman Khalid Mahmood, DCO Zafar Iqbal, DPO Syed Ibn-i-Husain and other senior officers.

The governor directed the DPO and DIG to investigate the theft of expensive Wapda equipment from the Nankana and Saidwala grid stations and bring the culprits to task.

He said theft of utilities like water, power, gas, would never be allowed, while repayment of loans and government dues must also be ensured.

Governor Maqbool was briefed on the development works carried out in the district. During the last financial year, Rs420 million were spent on education sector, Rs140 million on health, Rs220 million on sanitation, sewerage and provision of potable water.

Responding to applications from the people, the governor issued necessary directions to the officials, including help to a handicapped boy to get an artificial leg.
