PESHAWAR: Reacting to the arrest of former president Asif Ali Zardari by National Accountability Bureau in fake bank account case, Pakistan People’s Party on Monday said the party’s central executive committee would decide what course of action should be taken against the arrest of PPP’s co-chairman.

PPP provincial president Humayun Khan and former provincial presidents Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, Rahim Dad Khan and Rahim Badshah Sherpao, in separate statements issued here, condemned the arrest of Mr Zardari and described it an attempt to suppress voice of the opposition leaders.

Mr Humayun said the party’s central executive committee was in session at Islamabad which would continue also on Tuesday (today) to discuss the current situation and take a unanimous decision about a possible protest movement following Mr Zardari’s arrest.

He alleged that the government had started influencing NAB for victimising the opposition leaders just to suppress their voice against wrong policies of the government.

Criticising the government, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan should not call himself as ‘elected’ premier because he was brought into power ‘through different unfair means’.

The PPP workers, he said were waiting for final decision to be taken by the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding a protest movement, adding in case of protest demonstrations the government would be unable to survive hardly for a month.

Similarly, Khwaja Hoti and Rahim Sherpao alleged that NAB was working on directives from Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, Rahim Dad urged the government to stop victimising the opposition leaders and prove its competence in the field by bringing down the prices of daily use commodities, provision of jobs to unemployed youth and shelter to the homeless people.
