Constable held for molesting boy

HARIPUR: A constable of the special police force was arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old boy in Haripur city, police and the complainant said here on Saturday.

According to Zeeshan, a resident of Mohallah Kund and father of the victim boy, his son was on way to mosque on Circular Road for offering prayer when Tausif Shah, a constable of special police force, deputed at the gate of district secretariat stopped him. He claimed that after engaging the minor boy in irrelevant discussion the constable dragged him inside the building of district secretariat where all the offices were vacant due to Eid holidays and molested him.

The victim was taken to Haripur trauma centre where the initial medical report confirmed molestation.

The police arrested the suspect and have registered a case against him under section 377 of PPC.

The accused was later produced before the court of duty magistrate who handed him over to the investigation staff for three days on physical remand. Meanwhile, DPO Zahidullah Jan ordered suspension of the constable soon after his arrest and also ordered an internal inquiry against him.
