JI youth wing protests increase in oil prices

SWABI: The Jamaat-i-Islami’s youth wing activists staged a protest demonstration at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk here on Monday against the ‘unjust’ increase in oil prices.

The activists gathered at the district office of JI and marched in a procession from there to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk where they were addressed by their leaders. They held placards and banners inscribed with slogans against increase in oil prices.

The protesters said the government had made life of people miserable by frequently increasing the oil prices.

Mohammad Ali, former district general secretary, said the oil price hike was being imposed at a time when the people were already experiencing high prices of daily use items.

Addressing the workers, Sayedul Ibrar, district head of JI youth wing, criticised the PTI government for raising hue and cry when the oil prices were increased during the PML-N government.

Meanwhile, four people were injured when members of two families exchanged fire on Monday, police said.

They said the incident occurred when members of Adnan Khan’s family beat up two children of Yasir Khan’s family.

The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital and Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.
