Munda people face power outages, water shortage

TIMERGARA: Residents of Munda tehsil on Thursday complained about shortage of drinking water, frequent power outages, lack of health facilities and routine traffic jams in the area.

They demanded of the district administration to resolve their problems and provide them with adequate facilities.

The residents made the demands during an open session held at Munda tehsil council office with Lower Dir deputy commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai in the chair.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the administration wanted to resolve public grievances. MPA Bahadar Khan, ACs of Timergara and Samarbagh, district education officer Ghulam Nabi Khan, heads of line departments, Munda tehsil nazim Humayun Khan, local government representatives and area elders attended the session.

The deputy commissioner said that the government officers were public servants and they should keep the doors of their offices open to general public. He set 15-day time limit to resolve the short-term issues highlighted by the people.

The notables highlighted issues related to Munda bypass, traffic jams, sale of narcotics, power outages and low voltage, dysfunctional tube wells and unavailability of doctors and basic facilities in the local THQ hospital.

The DC said that all the issues would be assigned to the concerned departments for early resolution.

Also in the day, a cleanliness walk was arranged by Munda TMA which was attended by the deputy commissioner, MPA Bahadar Khan and tehsil nazim.

Meanwhile, the Adenzai administration sealed a plastic shopping bag factory and confiscated 3,000 kilogrammes of plastic bags during a crackdown.
