Traders to protest if forced to sit in sasta bazaar

TIMERGARA: The Anjuman-i-Tajaran Chakdara on Saturday warned of protest against the district administration if shopkeepers were forced to shift to the sasta bazaar in the area.

President of the association, Khwaja Faizul Ghafoor, complained that the administration had been forcing dealers of vegetables, fruits and poultry to shift to the Ramazan bazaar. He said the traders would shut their businesses and protest if the administration did not budge.

Also, the officials of food department visited the Timergara fruit and vegetable market and monitored the bidding process. After analysing various food items the officials prepared a new pricelist for all markets in the district.

Additional assistant commissioner revenue Tariq Hussain fined two shopkeepers in Timergara Bazaar for profiteering.

Similarly, a food department team raided different markets and booked several shopkeepers for selling substandard items and violating the official pricelist.

Meanwhile, Iftari package was distributed among 700 prisoners of Timergara district jail by DC Shaukat Ali Yousafzai. The jail superintendent was asked to provide basic facilities and quality food to the prisoners during Iftari and Sehri.

SHOP BURGLED: A thief took away Rs120,000 cash from a shop on Timergara Bypass Road on Friday.

The shop owner said CCTV footage showed a man collecting the cash from the counter on Friday when the market was closed. He said the man clearly visible in the footage also broke the monitor of the CCTV camera.

The police registered a case against unknown accused after examining the CCTV footage and started search for his arrest.
