Youm-i-Ali security plan finalised

LAHORE: The Lahore Police finalised the security plan for Youm-i-Ali (RA) during a meeting of all its officers presided over by Capital City Police Officer BA Nasir on Thursday.

The procession route is five kilometre long, starting from Mubarak Haveli and culminating at Karbala Gamay Shah. The police has completed security audit of 193 streets.

According to the plan, no person would be allowed to enter the street without checking. Every person entering the procession would be frisked at three points at least. The CCTV cameras throughout the route have been installed by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and they have been tested.

The district administration has installed CCTV cameras for surveillance. It has also fixed suitable streetlights. Checking and body searching points has been erected at entry points.

The police have also prepared a sketch of the plan and sought help of local community and businessmen in devising the security plan.

During the procession, at least 3000 officials will perform duty on the route that falls in the jurisdiction of nine police stations. Police also have devised a mechanism to build proper coordination with other departments. DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan also spoke.
