NAB must gather evidence before a trial: SC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the appeal filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the acquittal of a former official of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

NAB has requested the apex court to overturn the acquittal of the NBP’s former cashier who was facing corruption charges.

A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa resumed hearing of the appeal filed by NAB against the acquittal of NBP official.

After perusing the record, the CJP remarked that NAB should think that its purpose should not be other than preparing and filing solid evidence.

The court noted that in the instant case the bureau dragged a suspect without having enough evidence to substantiate the allegations.

Subsequently, the court dismissed the NAB’s appeal.
