LARKANA: Local Government Secretary Khalid Hyder Shah through a notification issued on Monday assigned the charge of Larkana mayor to Deputy Mayor Anwar Ali Nawaz Luhar till a fresh election for the slot.

The notification said that the resignation of [until now mayor] Mohammed Aslam Shaikh was received through the municipal commissioner of Larkana and accordingly the functions of mayor were assigned to the deputy mayor. The PPP-backed mayor, Aslam Shaikh, had tendered his resignation on May 13.
