Three critical after bus-truck collision

TOBA TEK SINGH: More than a dozen passengers were injured when a bus collided with a truck on Gojra-Faisalabad Road early on Sunday.

Officials of Rescue 1122 said the injured were admitted to Gojra’s Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where Tanvir Afzal, 28, Nabila Zubair, 25, and Shamshad Bibi, 36, were referred to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

AERIAL FIRING: A group of armed men on Sunday resorted to aerial firing at Main Bazaar and Allah Hoo Chowk on Faisalabad-Multan Road in Pirmahal.

Eyewitnesses say one of the suspects had quarreled with a fruit vendor on Saturday over some issue and he, along with his accomplices armed with revolvers, sticks and wooden bars, came and attacked the fruit vendors on Sunday. They tortured the vendors, damaged their carts and fled firing in the air.

The Pirmahal police said vendors had not given an application for registration of a case so far.

FIRE: Timber and firewood worth more than Rs1 million were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a wood-cutting depot on Railway Road in Kamalia on Sunday.

A team of the Kamalia municipal committee fire brigade controlled the blaze after two hours. The owners of the depot said the fire was caused by a shot-circuit.

SUICIDE: A young resident of Chak 740-GB committed suicide in Kamalia on Sunday.

The Kamalia Saddar police said Safdar Ali was said to be jobless and worried about his financial circumstances. He exchanged harsh words with his parents and shot himself dead, they added.
