Man accused of thrashing wife

HARIPUR: A woman on Sunday accused her husband and his brother of thrashing her and snatching a minor child from her in a remote village of Khanpur tehsil.

Nosheen Bibi, a resident of Khoi Maira village, told mediapersons here that she was married to Khawar Mushtaq of the same locality about four years ago and they had two minor children.

She said three days ago she went to her parents’ house after her husband beat her up over her refusal to borrow money from her parents.

The complainant said on Saturday evening her husband entered her parents’ house forcibly and took away their two-year- old daughter. She said when she went to her husband’s house, where he along with his brother, Khurum Mushtaq, attacked her with kicks and fists, leaving her injured.

The victim lodged complaint with the Khanpur police, but no FIR was registered and her ordeal compounded when the doctors at the hospital sent her back home after initial dressing and called her to hospital on Monday.

She accused the police of not registering FIR against the accused who were enjoying support of some influential people. When contacted, the Khanpur police confirmed that a case regarding woman’s torture was not registered as the doctors had not yet issued her medical examination report.
