Two killed as van’s CNG cylinder explodes

NOWSHERA: Two persons were killed while 12 others sustained serious burn injuries when a passenger van caught fire after its CNG cylinder went off in Khairbad area of Nowshera on Wednesday.

The passenger van was on way to Nizampur from Jehangira when its CNG cylinder burst, causing injuries to passengers, Rescue 1122 officials said.

Police said the bodies were brought to the district headquarter hospital, Nowshera. They said the dead could not be identified because their bodies were mutilated beyond recognition.

The injured persons were rushed to Nowshera Medical College and the CMH. They were identified as Liaqat, Shahzaib, Nawabzada, Tufail, Noor Sayed, Roman, Raftooon Bibi, Riaz Bibi, Bakhat Meena, Nawabzada, Fazal Azeem and Sharif.

The hospital sources said that two of passengers were in serious condition because they had received 100 per cent burn injuries.
