Five killed over land dispute in Sahiwal

SAHIWAL: Five people, including a woman, were killed over a land dispute between two rival groups here on Monday night at village 94/9-L.

Three others, including two women, suffered critical injuries in the clash. Yousafwala Police have registered a case against 12 [unidentified] suspects, including shooter Ali Raza.

According to eyewitnesses, two brothers Nasir Khan and Akbar Khan had a land dispute. On Monday, Akbar Khan along with his accomplices tried to irrigate a disputed piece of land. Nasir Khan along with his maternal nephew Ali Raza rushed to the spot and tried to stop Akbar Khan from irrigation. Women from both sides rushed to spot as well.

After exchange of hot words, Ali Raza opened fire, killing Akbar Khan, Muhammad Yousaf and Tariq on the spot whereas Muhammad Tufail, Irshad Bibi, Allah Dad, Mumtaz Bibi and Imtiaz Bibi got critically injured. Police said later Irshad Bibi and Tufail succumbed to their injuries at hospital.

On the complaint of Muhammad Younas, Yousafwala Police booked 12 people, including Ali Raza.
