Senators put in requisition to discuss hockey decline

ISLAMABAD, July 16: Senators Murad Ali Shah, Muhammad Enver Baig and Dr. Kausar Firdous have put in a requisition to convene a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports to discuss hockey affairs.

In their requisition submitted on Saturday with the head of the committee senator Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, the three have said that some major matters needed to be discussed in the meeting.

The continuous deteriorating affairs of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and their facilitating of people to get visas of European countries other than those on the team are matters mentioned in the requisition.

Pakistan’s hockey graph and world ratings have been continuously on the decline for the past five years. The latest setback has been a poor seventh place finish in the just concluded World Junior Cup.

The senators also pointed out that the PHF had yet to respond to the questionnaire submitted by Murad Ali and Enver.

They have also asked that the presence of PHF president in the meeting should be ensured.
