TAXILA: Punjab Public Accounts Committee Chairman Syed Yawar Bokhari on Friday said providing quality services at health institutions was top priority of the government.

He was addressing a press conference at the office of chief executive officer health in Attock.

Member Punjab assembly Malik Jamshaid Altaf, chief executive officer health Dr Sohail Ejaz, district health officer Dr Mohsin Ashraf, MS DHQ hospital Dr Asif Niazi were also present on the occasion.

Says special health package has been introduced in eight districts of Punjab

Mr Bokhari said under Prime Minister’s National Health Programme (PMNHP), special health package had been introduced in eight districts of Punjab including Attock.

He said under this package, Rs3 billion had been allocated and the share of Attock district was Rs420 million.

He said under this package around 2,000 new jobs had been created which included 22 doctors, 24 nurses, four dispensers, 92 LHVs and 113 security guards.

Mr Bokhari said after launching this programme in Attock district, now most of the basic health units (BHUs) were working round the clock, where qualified doctors had been inducted and basic medicines were also available.

He said under PMNHP, a state of the art mother and child health care hospital would be established in Attock at the cost of more than Rs3 billion.

He said 200 beds would be added to DHQ Hospital besides setting up a nursing school and a medical college in Attock.

He said that in Attock district, Sehat Insaf cards would be distributed in phases among 100,000 people in a transparent manner while all the government employees would be given health cards irrespective of their grades.

On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer Health Dr Sohail Ejaz, said medicines worth Rs160 million had been provided to all the basic and rural health units of the district besides availability of anti rabies vaccine in THQ Hospitals has also been ensured.

He said for proper storage of the medicines, a warehouse was under construction at the cost of Rs18 million in the district.

He said after a long time two gynecologists had been appointed at THQ hospital of Jand tehsil to ensure mother and newborn health care at the far-flung and remote area of the district.
