Pindi, Islamabad admins to issue joint price list

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi and Islamabad administrations have decided to issue a joint price list for essential food items in the twin cities.

Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Mohammad Ali Randhawa and Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat visited the I-11 fruit and vegetable market on Thursday to monitor the auction of fruits and vegetables so prices could be brought down in the open market.

A senior district administration official told Dawn that the twin cities were working to issue identical price lists for essential food items, which was why the administrative heads were visiting the I-11 market every day.

He said that there were previously differences in the prices of commodities in the twin cities.

The official said both administrations have decided to implement the joint price list in all markets, and traders have been taken on board as well. Meat, milk and other food items will be available at the same prices in both cities in the coming days, he said.

He added that all the food items supplied to various markets come from the I-11 market, which was why prices were being monitored.
