‘PM’s confession’

I WAS amazed to read in the April 24 issue that the opposition had held a demonstration in parliament against what it termed as the ‘confession’ of Prime Minister Imran Khan that Pakistani soil had been used in militant attacks across the Pakistan-Iran border.

Is speaking the truth according to one’s knowledge and belief a crime in Pakistan now? Why is the opposition calling upon the maker of the statement to submit an explanation?

In my humble view, the opposition has no justification to criticise and condemn Imran Khan on this score. Rather the opposition should have expressed sorrow over the fact that militants’ had been using Pakistani soil to commit such heinous acts.

In fact the opposition should have passed a resolution expressing sympathy with Iran and condemning the militants for using Pakistani soil to damage Pakistan-Iran cordial brotherly relations.
