ISLAMABAD: As many as 22 employees unions of different government departments have decided to establish a camp from today (Thursday) aimed at seeking increase in their salaries.

President Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) non-gazetted employees Chaudhry Mohammad Riaz Gujjar told Dawn that because of price hike it has been decided to start joint efforts for increase in salaries.

“We will establish a camp in Sitara Market Chowk in G-7 and representatives of all employees unions will sit there. On May 2 we would gather outside the National Press Club to hold a joint protest,” he said.

“As the budget is being prepared, we have issued a charter of demand so that the government could consider it while preparing the budget. We have demanded that salaries and allowances of all government employees should be equal. Salaries should be increased by 100pc and ad hoc relief should be included in the salary,” he said.

Mr Gujjar said pay scales should be upgraded and 20pc special allowance should be given with minimum medical allowance should be Rs5,000.

Wedding grant should be increased by 100pc and extended to two children. Health cards should be given to all non-gazetted employees, he said.

“At the time of retirement one year salary should be given from Benevolent Fund. Pension should be increased according to price hike,” he said.
